ChatGPT Images
OpenAI's in-chat image generation, driven by natural-language prompts inside a normal ChatGPT conversation rather than a separate image app.
Pros
- + Understands detailed, conversational prompts better than most dedicated image tools — you can iterate by just describing the change you want
- + Excellent for consistent flat-illustration/explainer styles when you specify the style precisely
- + No separate account or app needed if you already use ChatGPT Plus
Cons
- − Not built for production batching — no bulk-generation or project/style-locking tools
- − Can quietly ignore very specific style instructions (facial features, exact color codes) unless you spell them out every time
- − Downloading images requires using the in-chat Share modal's download button — the toolbar's small download icon can trigger a native save dialog that browser automation tools can't see or interact with
ChatGPT’s image generation is less of a dedicated “art tool” and more of a conversational one — you describe what’s wrong with the last image and it adjusts, which suits explainer and cartoon-style visuals better than it suits painterly, one-shot cinematic art.
How it works
You prompt inside a normal chat. For a consistent character across many images, be explicit about every recurring visual detail — facial features in particular are easy to under-specify and get inconsistent results (a flat illustration style with no hair/eye instructions, for example, can render a blank face on some generations and a detailed one on others).
Who it’s for
Explainer, psychology, and educational channels using a locked flat-2D illustration style, where careful, consistent prompting matters more than one-shot visual impact. See it head-to-head with Leonardo AI and Midjourney.
